Adobe "Find A Photographer" database!
Posted: Wednesday, March 30, 2005
Great Opportunity!
A valuable new General member benefit has been negotiated for you!
Today, ASMP and Adobe Systems announced an agreement on the Adobe Photographers Directory, an online "find a photographer" database that will work with the next version of Adobe(R) Creative Suite. Adobe's goal is to simplify the workflow of design professionals, and this includes easy access to professional assignment photographers. Although other photographers may be listed in the Directory later, the only photographers who will be included at the launch of the Photographers Directory are those General members of ASMP who choose to participate.
For you, this is an opportunity to list your contact info and portfolio images in Adobe's database. It is free, and it will remain free for as long as you are an ASMP General member.
Action needed:
Go to ASMP's Adobe Opt-in page at www.asmp.org/opt-in. Read the agreement, click the "I accept" button, and that's it -- you're in. We will then automatically transfer your public ASMP Find A Photographer data into Adobe's database, pictures and all.
As an incentive for quick action, Adobe has promised to give a black Adobe Photoshop baseball cap to each member who signs up before April 6. Act now and take advantage of this new General member benefit.
More details:
Adobe's Photographer Directory will be an online database of assignment photographers. The Directory will be supported within Creative Suite and particularly in Photoshop CS, and it also will be available directly through Adobe.com. The Directory will be searchable by geographic location and by photographic specialty. Like ASMP's own Find A Photographer, it will include portfolio images.
ASMP's General members will be the charter photographers in this directory, and the ASMP General member logo will appear in your listing. In fact, for a limited time, only ASMP General members are eligible to be listed automatically after opting in. As you know, General membership requires a three-year substantial publication history, a majority of income from photo sales and sponsorship by two existing General members.
By participating, you will put your images before millions of Adobe users. In fact, the more of our members participate, the more useful (and so, the more used) the database will be.
And while you are on the ASMP site to sign up, why not review your FAP images -- and upload some if you haven't already done so.
Yours,
Susan Carr
